Gary Barlow flew out to the frontline to visit troops in Afghanistan for a new one-off ITV special due to be aired later this year.
The dishy 42-year-old, who recently revealed he wouldn’t be returning to X Factor after this series, left his commitments with the show behind for the week to spend time with British army, navy and airforce soldiers stationed in the Middle East.
Flying out directly after Sunday night’s X Factor results show, the former Take That crooner made the most of his time in the camp by performing his hits, posing for snaps and helping troops to deliver messages home.
A source told The Mirror: ‘On the show, he will be finding out from what life is like in camp and how difficult it is to be away from home.’
‘He listened to lots of their stories and they told him how much they missed their families, and he even performed some songs for them,’ the insider continued. ‘Lots of the servicemen and women were saying his visit was a real boost to them.’
Aw. Our Gary’s a good egg, isn’t he?
