Did you ever notice something a little odd about Monica’s apartment in Friends?
It’s one of the most famous TV living rooms in the world. We’ve all got fond memories of the frame on the purple door, the comfy cream sofa and of course, that white dog.
But as it turns out, we probably don’t know it quite as well as we thought. In fact, the kitchen area has one rather mind-bending inconsistency.
The people over at Hello Giggles were the ones to uncover this bizarre continuity error. And now we’ve seen it, we’re not sure we’re ever going to be able to watch Friends in the same way again.
Basically, it’s all to do with the window. Y’know, the one behind the sink and opposite the table? If you look closely, you’ll notice that the view outside actually changed MULTIPLE times throughout the show’s run.
Confusing. Here’s a run-down of the changes…
Firstly, there were two other windows. Totally normal, yeah? but then…
A washing line, a balcony AND an iron railing turned up. Hmmm. Maybe they were doing some renovation work over the road?
Wait. Then a new window came into play. Spot it? It’s in the bottom right hand corner.
And another one! This time on the left.
It seems the building opposite ended up being demolished, because Monica then got a pretty sweet city view.
And a fire escape?!
But then the builders must have returned, because, er, what’s that miserable brick wall?
Cor. With that much change, we’re surprised there weren’t more episodes with the gang complaining about the noise of bulldozers.
