Fifty Shades of Grey the movie has now had its director and its release date confirmed, so all that’s left is to find out who will be leading the all-important cast as kinky bed partners Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
Apparently, at least one actor has already been offered the lead role in the silver screen release set for August 2014. Eeek! Here’s what we know so far:
Earlier this week, director Sam Taylor-Johnson‘s toyboy boyf Aaron Taylor-Johnson took himself out of the running to play everyone’s favourite sexy CEO. “I am not Christian Grey,” the 23-year-old told the Metro. “I mean, he is supposed to be the most gorgeous man on the f***ing planet! And I am not old enough.” (Grey is 27 in the books).
So if not Aaron, then who? The latest actors touted for the role include Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder, Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer – but our hearts are still set on Robert Pattinson starring as the smouldering protagonist after he was spotted partying up a storm with author E.L. James last month.
As for Ana – Gilmore Girls actress Alexis Bledel is currently the front runner to play the innocent yet sassy Steele, according to Entertainmentwise, with Amanda Seyfried, Selena Gomez and Mila Kunis hot on her heels as the next strongest contenders.
Despite early rumors that Harry Potter star Emma Watson would take on the role, the British actress recently took to Twitter to deny the rumors. “Who here actually thinks I would do ’50 Shades of Grey’ as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life”, she posted.
And with fresh reports that British model Cara Delevingne could land a role in the steamy bonkbuster, it’s looking like it’s game faces on for these Hollywood hotties as they battle it out to the finish line.
