Facebook Might Be Getting Rid Of Text In 5 Years

We’ve got some pretty shocking Facebook news to dump on you. Because guys, they might be getting rid of WORDS.

Yep, one of Facebook’s major executives has dealt social media fans a major blow, as apparently, the platform could be ‘all video’ in as little as five years. What?!

Okay, we know that video is BIG. But not being able to write your pal a LOL message or to dedicate a long, romantic status to your lover? This just does not seem right.

According to Business Insider, FB’s daily video views have jumped from one billion to eight billion (which is a little cray cray), with people watching 100 million hours of video each day. Crikey.

The popularity of Facebook Live is also a huge contributing factor, added to the fact that the amount of text being posted is in decline.

And Facebook’s vice president for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has stated that FB video is doing so well, it could take over text posts completely.

We’re not sure how we feel about this. Video status updates? Video chats? It’s all a bit YouTube for our liking. Keep the text, Facey B!
