Beyoncé has made us long for our university days like never before with this amazing news that you can now study her and her amazingness as an actual degree. WE KNOW.
Thanks to Rutgers University in New Jersey, students can now enrol on a brand new course called ‘Feminist Perspectives: Politicizing Beyoncé’.
Created by PhD student Kevin Allred, the course will combine Queen Bey’s empowering lyrics and super sexy videos with readings from feminist writers.
‘This isn’t a course about Beyoncé’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend,’ he told the University paper.
‘Rather, the performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender, and sexual politics.’
He added: ‘It’s important to shift students away from simply being consumers of media toward thinking more critically about what they’re engaging in on a regular basis.’
Being forced to watch Bey and her epic Crazy In Love booty-shaking on repeat? Where do we sign up?
The Jay Z degree is also now a thing – Georgetown University recently introduced their own college course called ‘The Sociology of Hip-Hop: Jay Z’.
We always knew we could learn a thing or two from the Carter-Knowles clan, but this is something else.
Studying suddenly just got a whole lot more fabulous.
