Why Some Viewers Found This Week’s Ex On The Beach Hard To Watch

Social media was buzzing with negative comments aimed at Jemma Lucy and Gary Beadle after this week's MTV show...

Ex On The Beach kicked off with series five this week, and it’s safe to say that there’s plenty of drama brewing already…

We watched as the first handful of contestants ran Baywatch-style onto the beach, before entering the super flashy all-star villa.

Amongst them was Stephen Bear (who’s making quite a name for himself on Celebrity Big Brother right now), Jemma Lucy, Jess Impiazzi, Gary Beadle and Chloe Goodman.

Unfortunately for Jemma, she quickly seemed to become one of the most talked-about names on the line-up, thanks to a naughty night in the private room with Geordie Shore’s Gaz.

This was mainly due to the heavily publicised situation with his ex Charlotte Crosby. Viewers sitting down to watch the show, which was filmed months ago, now know that she was going through an incredibly difficult time back home.

Gary explained to the MTV cameras that he was viewing the experience as a test of his relationship with Charlotte, so that he could decide if he really wanted to be in a relationship with her, or if he wanted to be single.

But after Jemma selected him for a night away from the rest of the group, things soon, err, ‘escalated quickly’.

Tweets began pouring in, with many of them rushing to offer support to Charlotte Crosby.

Charlotte herself stayed pretty quiet throughout the airing of episode one, but she did post a sad face to Twitter, leading many to believe that she may have been referencing the situation.

Oh, Charlotte :'(

Gary also kept schtum, but did tell a viewer that he wouldn’t ‘bite’ to the negative comments…

Sadly, there were quite a lot of tweets that appeared to be singularly shaming Jemma Lucy. Pretty unfair, considering it takes two to tango…

It’s a sensitive subject, so we just hope everyone is okay.
