Ah, EastEnders. Never has a show so depressing been so beloved to the nation’s hearts.
The BBC soap has been running since 1985, and over the years we’ve seen hundreds of characters arrive on Albert Square.
But what about those who’ve left? Y’know, the ones who were either killed off or headed away from Walford in the back of a taxi. Which was parked outside the Queen Vic, obvs.
In the spirit of 00s nostalgia, we’ve decided to take a look at what some of our favourite actors from the past decade have been up to. You may be surprised…
1) Maisie Smith
Now 14, the teen looks worlds away from her character Tiffany Butcher.
Maisie made her first appearance on EastEnders back in 2008, before leaving with on-screen mum Bianca (Patsy Palmer) in September 2014.
2) Aaron Sidwell
Yep, it’s psychopath Steven Beale. You may remember that after a series of attempted murders, he kidnapped his adopted dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt) in revenge for his childhood traumas.
Aaron has since appeared in the West End and become dad to two daughters. And guess what?! He’s coming BACK to ‘Enders. Ooh, we can’t wait to see what happens…
3) Marc Elliott
You’ll remember Marc as Syed Masood. And for that tumultuous relationship with Christian Clarke (John Partridge).
He left our screens in 2012, but he’ll soon be back on the BBC when he joins the cast of Holby City later this year.
4) Molly Conlin
Yep. That really is demon child Dotty Cotton. Six years after bidding goodbye to Walford’s residents, 15-year-old Molly is looking pretty different.
She’s still acting, so maybe there’s a chance she’ll one day return to visit her grandma Dot (June Brown)…
5) David Spinx
What a difference a beard trim makes, eh?! According to his Twitter bio, David – who played Keith Miller between 2004-2008 – is now an actor, presenter and teacher.
6) James Forde
The teen behind Liam Butcher may only have left EastEnders last August, but he’s already looking hella different.
7) Jack Ryder
Remember Jack? He was EastEnders‘ resident late 90s heartthrob, making girls everywhere (including us) swoon in his role as Jamie Mitchell.
Jamie was best known for his rocky romance with Sonia Jackson, before he was tragically killed off in a car accident on Christmas Day 2002. Oh, how we wept…
So what’s Jack up to now? Well, since his divorce from Kym Marsh in 2009, he’s become a successful film and theatre director.
8) Shana Swash
Shana played Keither Miller’s daughter Demi, who was one half of the Square’s resident Romeo and Juliet. She, her daughter Aleesha and mum Rosie left Walford in 2006.
Demi is still acting, and also works in a North London pub. Fun fact: She’s the real-life sister of former co-star Joe Swash.
9) Charlie Clements
Oh, Bradley Branning. He was the ginger hottie everyone loved until he, er, fell off a roof and popped his clogs back in 2010.
Charlie recently appeared on Loose Women, where he showed off a more mature look and spoke about his upcoming drama, in which he portrays Henry VIII.
10) Lucy Speed
Lucy’s alter ego Natalie was married to Barry Evans back in the early 00s. She left in 2004, and despite her new pixie crop, she’s barely aged a day.
She married actor Spencer Hayler in 2009 and the couple welcomed their daughter Kitty in 2012.
