Downton Abbey could be losing one of its main characters if latest reports are anything to go by. Rumours are circulating that Dan Stevens, aka Matthew Crawley will NOT be returning to the ITV1 drama.
We’re not normally ones to get so hysterical over such news, but Dan is doing nothing to stop the rumours, and hasn’t even addressed them on his Twitter page, leading us to believe that he WILL quit the show, leaving Lady Mary hubby-less. Sob!
We announced yesterday that Downton has officially been picked up for a Christmas special and a fourth series, which is due to start shooting in February next year.
Dan is said to be on board for the special next month – but not the full fourth series.
A source from the show’s production team told the Sunday Express: “Dan Stevens isn’t returning to the series. He will probably do the first episode of the fourth series, but that will be it.”
The 30-year-old actor is currently in the US performing in his debut Broadway show The Heiress alongside Jessica Chastain.
Don’t do this to us, Dan…! RM
