We’ve got some incredibly sad news today, as ITV’s This Morning shares that Denise Robertson has passed away, at the age of 83.
The news comes after the show’s agony aunt revealed that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in February.
This Morning shared the tragic news on its Twitter account earlier today, writing: ‘Such sad news – our friend and colleague Denise Robertson has lost her short but determined battle against cancer.’
Naturally, the social media tributes started rolling in.
Phillip Schofield, who worked closely with her on This Morning, shared a behind-the-scenes snap of them together, alongside the words, ‘I’m heartbroken at the passing of our @itvthismorning icon Denise Robertson. Kind, thoughtful, caring & wonderful’.
Holly Willoughby took to Instagram to pen a moving message. She said, ‘Yesterday we lost this gorgeous lady after her brave fight with cancer… We will miss her deeply… Denise you were quite simply one of life’s good ones Xxx’.
Rochelle Humes is also amongst the other celebrities and viewers that have taken to Twitter to share their sadness.
She wrote, ‘Devastated to hear about the news of Denise Robertson, a truly amazing, strong, kind and thoughtful lady who will be terribly missed’.
Denise had been a part of This Morning since it first aired in 1988.
Her popularity led to her own TV show, Dear Denise, and she was appointed an MBE in 2006 for her services both to broadcasting and to charity.
