People angry at Ant and Dec? We never thought we’d see the day.
But Britain’s Got Talent viewers were furious with Declan Donnelly last night, after he made some controversial comments about group Zyrah Rose.
The girls had just performed during the third semi-final show and were listening to comments from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
Of course, Simon had a few critiques that he wanted to go through.
He said that while Christine, Kara, Charlotte and Emily’s vocals were flawless – ‘particularly as the track picked up in the middle’ – he was unsure about their look.
The 56-year-old said there was ‘a slight image issue with you which is making you look a little bit untouchable.’
This led Dec, 40, to respond: ‘They don’t look untouchable to me – in fact they look very touchable to me.’
Ant, 40, was seen laughing in response. However, it’s safe to say that viewers weren’t so impressed.
One wrote on Twitter: ‘What on Earth did Dec just say about Zyrah Rose?! If we have to be fixated on their looks, lets not announce how touchable they are… #BGT.’
Another said: ‘dec sounded a bit pervy there #BGT.’
TV critic Ian Hyland added: ‘Dec on Zyrah Rose: “They look very touchable to me.” It’s like he’s after a job at the BBC. In the 1970s. #BGT.’
Eep. Unfortunately the band didn’t make it through to the next round, losing out to magician Richard Jones and dancers Boogie Storm.
Let’s hope everyone’s learned their lesson before tonight’s episode.
