We can all agree that England being out of Euro 2016 is not Coleen Rooney’s fault, right?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few days, you’ll know that the team were knocked out of the tournament after a shock defeat by Iceland on Monday night.
This led to the immediate resignation of manager Roy Hogdson, and a huge backlash against captain (and Coleen’s husband) Wayne.
Tweets to Wayne included: ‘You are an over paid over rated idiot who can’t even beat Iceland,’ and: ‘You fat t*** worst captain EVER @WayneRooney.’
Eep. We think it’s safe to say that he’s not having the best time right now…
But while we don’t think it’s fair that Wayne’s receiving such a backlash (we mean, he wasn’t the only player on the pitch), it’s DEFINITELY not right that Coleen’s also being targeted.
One message to her reads: ‘Tell your man to step the f*** down and let someone else to the job!! Rooney was the worst last night!’
Now the 30-year-old – who took son Kai to watch the Iceland game – has had enough.
She’s hit back on her page: ‘Everyone’s entitled to their opinions but am Gutted like every other England fan [sic].’
She later re-Tweeted a post reading: ‘Don’t understand people giving @ColeenRoo abuse on here. Did she play? Did she pick the team? She was there supporting the lads. Behave.’
This isn’t the first time Coleen’s been forced to speak out about her appearance at the Euros. Earlier in the week, she was criticised for taking Kai, six, out of school to see his dad in action.
At the time, she Tweeted: ‘Kai goes to a private school, so no fine…. Extra work to take away with us though!!!’
We think it may be time to lay off her now. Agreed?
