Speaking on the talk show she co-hosts with Tyra Banks, The Fab Life, Teigan opened up about the difficulties her and husband John Legend have had with conceiving.
Teigan, who has been with her singing sensation husband for ten years, revealed she would have had children “five or six years ago…if it had happened”.
Talking frankly about their IVF struggle on the show she said: “John and I have been going through this for years and it’s something that has been a part of our lives, and our friends have known. So it’s just nice to have a show and kind of acknowledge it to people because I felt like I was keeping a secret from them and it was weird. So it’s nice to have all my social media friends know and have them share their stories, too.”
raised an imp
ortant point about not asking couples about when they were planning to start a family. The star explained, “It’s a sweet question. It comes from a good place but sometimes you never know what the person is going through.”
“You’re like, ‘I’m trying.’ What I really want to say is, ‘I’m trying and I can’t.’ I wanted to talk about it for so long, it just didn’t feel right to tweet like, ‘Ugh, doing my IVF shots again,'” Teigan added.
Teigan’s news comes not long after her co-host Tyra Banks also opened up about dealing with the same issue. Speaking to People magazine earlier this month, the model and businesswoman said, “When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids.”
The America’s Next Top Model presenter spoke refreshingly honestly to the magazine about how she put off having kids in place of pursuing her career. Currently completing IVF treatment the star remains positive saying, “I hope for kids…I don’t just want one child. I want a litter! And I want to be the kind of mum where my child can come to me for anything.”
