Cheryl certainly seems happy at the moment.
With a blossoming romance with One Direction’s Liam Payne and new music on the horizon, the 32-year-old has a lot of reasons to smile.
The pop princess has revealed that she’s working hard on some new material, having quit her role as a judge on X Factor in order to focus on her music career. She told the Mirror, ‘I’m excited, I’m ready to go again. I’m just working on different sounds and figuring stuff out at the moment…’
Opening up about how heavily she can be scrutinised, the Geordie revealed that she just doesn’t let it bother her anymore.
Cheryl hit back, ‘I’m too far through the mill for that. You get slapped so many times, at some point it just stops hurting.’
But it’s no secret that the former Girls Aloud singer didn’t always have such a care-free attitude, as she admits, ‘I was sensitive at the beginning and I didn’t understand how somebody who knew nothing about me could write such terrible things…’
She continued, ‘Never met me. Never spoken to me. But had such a vicious opinion of me, and it would blow my mind. I was 19, they’d call me fat. That was horrible. And all the lies [sighs]. But now, I live my life. And they can live their life writing about me.’
But she would have shared some wise words with her younger self, given the chance: ‘Just don’t worry. It’ll be fine. Don’t care. Stop caring. I’d have told myself to stop caring what people think a lot earlier on.’
Great message, lady.
