Cheryl Fernandez Versini has reportedly quit the The X Factor. NOOO!
The ITV talent show hasn’t had the best start to the year, with Nick Grimshaw, Caroline Flack and Olly Murs all having left the show before the upcoming series.
And Cheryl has been the latest judge to be rumoured to be leaving, much to her Soldiers’ disappointment.
However, it appears to have now been confirmed, with several ITV executives allegedly telling the Mirror that she has indeed quit.
‘Cheryl was in talks to return to The X Factor this year but there were a number of hurdles in her way and it was not a straight forward that she would rejoin’, a source told the newspaper.
‘Simon and her are old friends but other people involved in the negotiations did not want her back.’
The source added: ‘Cheryl didn’t want to work alongside Louis Walsh, who is also in talks to be a judge, and show bosses are actively looking at new females judges and the possibility of bringing back Sharon Osbourne.’
‘Cheryl decided enough was enough and pulled out of talks and made it clear she was no longer interested. But she was not under contract so you can’t really quit a job you don’t have yet.’
The source added that it’s thought to be boyfriend Liam Payne that’s one of the driving forces behind her decision.
‘Staying on X Factor would have meant scrutiny for her new relationship with Liam that she didn’t want. Hopefully she can be happy out of the spotlight for a while.’
Hmm. Cheryl has yet to comment on the rumours on social media, and there’s still no word from her rep, so we’ll wait to see if this one is set in stone.
