The winner of 2016's Great British Bake Off Candice Brown has finally been able to come clean after her win...
Whilst we might like to think that we’re watching The Great British Bake Off competition unfold as it’s happening, it’s important to bear in mind that the series was actually recorded weeks ago.
Which means that winner Candice Brown has had a pretty tough job sitting on THAT whopper of a secret. And now, she’s opened up about how she did it…
Keeping quiet for weeks after you’ve won one of the most-loved shows on the BBC can’t have been easy, but Candice has serious skills, and managed to keep her trophy hidden from her friends and family, as well as her co-workers.
In fact, she kept her secret so well that she nearly convinced herself that it hadn’t actually happened.
‘I questioned whether it happened’, she told The Sun.
Speaking about after her win, Candice said: ‘I went straight to bed and got up for work early the next morning, I couldn’t talk about it and nothing had changed. I questioned whether it happened. I kept [the trophy] well hidden, even though I would have liked to wear it round my neck all the time.’
Yep, we don’t blame her.
Candice continued: ‘When they announced the winner, I almost didn’t hear it, and was in complete and utter disbelief. I was aware of it but I couldn’t take it in. Mary and Paul came over and I thought my knees would give way, I was trembling so much.’ Naww.
However, she’s now officially got her GBBO crown, and is expected to make up to £1 million as a result of her win. Not too shabby.
‘Let’s wait and see what will come my way but I will be grabbing it with both hands and running with it, that’s for sure’, Candice said of potential book, TV and beauty deals that could be in the pipeline. ‘It would be crazy not to, wouldn’t it?’
