is to star in the new Annie remake as villainous orphanage owner Miss Hannigan.

was rumoured to be playing Miss Hannigan in the remake of the 1980s stage musical, due for release on Christmas Day 2014.
Will’s daughter Willow Smith was also in place to play Annie but pulled out recently claiming she’s “grown out” of the role so Oscar nominated Beasts Of The Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis has been signed up. Oscar winner R&B star Jamie Foxx is tipped to play Daddy Warbucks.
After his incredible soundtrack for The Great Gatsby we can’t wait to hear what Jay-Z has in store for Annie, famous for tracks like Tomorrow and It’s The Hard Knock Life, which Jay-Z famously sampled on his 1998 hit single Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).
The 1982 film starred Carol Burnett as wicked orphanage proprietor Miss Hannigan, Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks and Aileen Quinn as Annie.
We can’t get enough of all these cool revivals from our childhood. Judy Bloom’s 1981 novel Tiger Eyes is is being made into a film, The Backstreet Boys are back, as are Reebok Classics. All we need now is David Hasselhoff to slip back in those Baywatch trunks.
