Emeli Sande will be sitting comfortably on cloud nine today after picking up two awards at the BRITs 2013, topping off what’s been an incredible twelve months for the star.
The Scottish singer picked up the awards for Best British Female Artist and the coveted Best Album Award.
She was presented with her first award by Taylor Swift, who looked jaw-droppingly gorgeous in Elie Saab. Bryan Ferry presented her with the award for Best Album before she took to the stage to sing a medley of her hits and close the show.
She said: “This is an album I wrote because I didn’t have the confidence to say these things in person.
“For me, that so many people have connected with this album and found strength in these words makes me feel incredible and it doesn’t make me feel as lonely.”
It tops off an amazing year for Emeli, who performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies for the London Olympics, and also married her marine biologist hubby Adam Gouraguine.
Her album Our Version of Events has sold more than one million copies, becoming the best-selling album of last year.
We’ll toast to that. Well, done Emeli! RM
