Meet Brie Larson, The Oscar Nominee *Everyone* Is Talking About

She’s already 2016’s biggest star… and the year’s not even properly begun yet! But after scoring an Oscar nomination for her raw and emotional performance in the drama Room, her name (and that incredible winning performance) is on everyone’s lips. Yep, Brie Larson is set to go stellar!

Here’s what you need to know about her…

She Released A Pop Album

When she was just 15 Brie released a pop album, entitled ‘Finally Out Of P.E’ named because she really disliked her P.E teacher! Us too, Brie, us too…

And She Was A Teen Star

In 2001 she was a regular on the sitcom Raising Dad and also appeared alongside Jennifer Garner in 13 Going On 30 (one of our fave rom coms ever!)

Her Success Has Been A Long Time Coming

Cancelled shows, being cut from TV series’, Brie’s path to success has been rocky, to say the least. But, refreshingly, she’s not afraid to admit that – “I have no problem talking about how hard it’s been, how broke I’ve been and how broke I was not even that long ago,” she says. “I was freaking out about this time last year… I was eBaying stuff for Christmas presents!”

A Powerful Female? You Bet!

“A big producer once offered me the part of a pretty girl that waits at home for the guy,” Brie revealed to Vulture. “I couldn’t do it. That’s not a story I ever want to tell.”

She’s ALL For Girl Power

Like us, Brie’s totally  for supporting and empowering other women. “I feel like right now, there’s a surge of complicated and empowered women,” she says. “Not just in movies, but everywhere. We were listening [to the radio] on the way over here and every song is like Demi Lovato saying ‘I’m confident,’ and Katy Perry saying ‘hear me roar!’

She’s Dating A Rock Star

Remember Phantom Planet? The band that sang The O’C’s theme tune ‘California?’ Well Brie has been dating the former lead singer of the band, Alex Greenwald for the past two years.

You HAVE To See Room

Literally no one has a bad thing to say about her performance in Room – the upcoming drama adapted from Emma Donoghue’s best selling 2010 novel, in which she plays a kidnap victim imprisoned in a one-room shed. It’s already gained her an Oscar and BAFTA nomination and a Golden Globe win too. You’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of this lady in 2016…
