Brad released a statement earlier this week about skipping a screening of Voyage Of Time due to being 'focused on his family situation'
Considering the tough time Brad Pitt’s had recently, it’s totally understandable that he decided to skip the premiere of new documentary Voyage Of Time to focus on his family.
And now the film’s crew have spoken out in support of the 52-year-old, amid his heartbreaking divorce from wife Angelina Jolie.
While walking the red carpet on Wednesday, Producer Sophokles Tasioulis told reporters: ‘I can understand Brad in many ways. Right now he’s in a very difficult situation personally.
‘We want people to come here for the movie, not for what is going on behind the scenes and Brad’s personal life. I think it was a good decision by him and we all respect his privacy.’
Brad – who narrates the Terrence Malick documentary – announced earlier this week that he wouldn’t be joining the rest of the crew at the screening.
In a statement, he said: ‘Terrence’s Voyage Of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time.
‘I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.’
News of Brad’s time off came after it was revealed that Angelina, 41, had filed for divorce, stating irreconcilable differences.
They’d been together for 12 years and married for two. Angelina has requested sole custody of their six children Maddox, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with Brad being granted visitation rights.
At the time, Brad said in a statement: ‘I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids.
‘I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.’
Speaking on behalf of Angelina, a representative told PEOPLE: ‘This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.’
This is heartbreaking for everyone involved, so we’re sending our love to the whole family.
