Some people really aren’t happy with Blake Lively right now.
The actress has been dazzling us all with her style on the red carpet at Cannes, showcasing what appears to be a blossoming bump in a series of beautiful dresses.
Blake took to Instagram to share some snaps of her beautiful curves, but it was her caption that seems to have caused problems for quite a few social media users.
Referencing a song lyric from a ’90s Sir Mix-a-Lot song, the mum-to-be wrote, ‘L.A. face with an Oakland booty’.
The line, from the hit Baby Got Back, refers to a woman with a gorgeous face (check) and a shapely behind, which is often affiliated with women of colour.
But some found the reference offensive. Tweets included: ‘Another day, another rich white woman using WOC’s bodies as a punchline and commodity…’ and ‘Not sure what’s grosser, the “LA face with an Oakland booty” caption or that someone would write that abt themselves’ [sic].
Others jumped to the star’s defense, with one disbelieving tweet reading, ‘Are people seriously going in on Blake Lively for quoting an urban song on an insta post?
We’re sure that it was never Blake’s intention to offend anyone.
And she really is looking flawless right now.
