Sarah Jessica Parker played it seriously safe on the BAFTAs 2013 red carpet, rocking a chic black jumpsuit by Elie Saab – and she wasn’t the only one – Laura Whitmore, who was presenting coverage for the event sponsors EE – sported a very similar design by Alexandre Vauthier, setting the trend for an abundance of black outfits.
Both SJP and Laura’s jumpsuits featured a keyhole cut-out at the bust, with long sleeves and a high neck. Sarah Jessica accessorised her fitted outfit with black and silver jewellery with diamonds, while Laura opted for a Grecian style with gold cuffs on her floaty number.
We’re rather disappointed by this year’s selection of dresses having seen some pretty safe style statements from the likes of Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner and Thandie Newton. The ladies rocked a selection of monochrome styles, with the exception of Andrea Riseborough, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence – although even she covered her stunning Dior dress in an oversized black coat.
The red carpet was a total wash-out with the stars battling rain, freezing temperatures and winds to have their pictures taken and talk to the press. But we’re still surprised at the lack of breath-taking fabrics, accessories and styles.
Sequins ARE waterproof, after all.
