Ant opened up about his treatment over the weekend
Dec Donnelly has spoken out about Ant McPartlin’s admission to rehab.
Ant, 41, revealed over the weekend that he was checking into a clinic, where he’s expected to spend two months for addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol.
He told The Sun On Sunday: ‘The first step is to admit to yourself you need help. I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.
‘I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.
‘I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.’
Now Dec, also 41, has Tweeted: ‘Thank you for all the kind messages and well wishes for the big fella. He will be touched. Your support is, as ever, much appreciated. DD xx.’
It’s believed that Ant became hooked on painkillers due to chronic pain in his knee, which stemmed from a ‘botched’ operation two years ago.
He was spotted wearing a knee brace on Instagram back in May, and is thought to have undergone more surgery as recently as last week.
Ant’s wife Lisa Armstrong has also spoken out about the news, writing on her Twitter page: ‘Completely overwhelmed by all your love & support it means so much. I’m relieved he’s receiving the help he needs, we just need him better.’
We couldn’t agree more. We look forward to having you back on our screens soon, Ant.
