Amber Heard has spoken out in the wake of claims that she ‘threatened’ to ‘blackmail’ her estranged husband, Johnny Depp.
In a letter to TheWrap, Amber’s lawyer states that the publication printed ‘outrageous and defamatory false claims’ about the actress. The article in question was guest written by Johnny Depp’s friend Doug Stanhope, and it was entitled: ‘Johnny Depp Is Being Blackmailed by Amber Heard – Here’s How I Know.’
Heard’s lawyer strongly denies the claims made in his column, which argues that she ‘has been manipulating Johnny Depp and is now blackmailing him…’
The comedian also claimed that Amber had been ‘threatening to lie about him [Johnny] publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her [divorce] terms.’
At the start of last week, Amber filed for divorce, reportedly citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ and requesting spousal support from Depp. On Friday, Amber alleged that she had suffered abuse at the hands of her husband.
The actress submitted photos, alleging that Johnny had thrown an iPhone at her face. She was sporting a visible bruise on her eye as she was pictured leaving the court.
Johnny has fiercly denied the claims.
According to the court documents, Amber claims: ‘During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me’.
She has been granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order.
The court case is ongoing.
