The Muswell Hill resident has decided that he has had enough of being Simon Smith.
Fancying a name change, the man looked to inspiration from his fast food joint of choice, Burger King.
Yep, you didn’t read the title wrong, Simon Smith has changed his named by deed (the official name register) to Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Now, don’t get us wrong, we all love a burger, but this is surely a bit extreme…
Speaking to the Sunday People about his somewhat unusual decision he said: “Bacon Double Cheeseburger was the first name I came up with.” Right…
His rationale? He reckons a name holds no importance. “A name is the least important part of your personality. It’s given to you by someone else,” he explained.
The 33-year-old is not the only UK resident who changed their name last year. By law anyone can change his or her name to anything. There really are NO rules. If you want to do a Phoebe and become Princess Consuela Banana Hammock, you can!
Last year, a record breaking 85,000 people changed their name across Britain, and burger inspired monikers weren’t the only weird and wonderful names to make the list.
Louise Bowers, of the UK Deed Poll Service, said: “One man changed his name to Happy Birthday. It gave us a chuckle but if that is what they want to do, it’s their choice.”
She added: “Some people simply don’t like their original name – we’ve changed Cock to Cox and Smellie to Smiley.”
Other common name change themes include people renaming themselves after famous football stars. People have changer their name to Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney.
Plus, there was one couple that decided they wished to be known as Mr and Mrs Amazing. As you do…
