Your workwear wardrobe update: The work dress

Finding the perfect work dress is a total chore. You don’t want something too short, too see-through, too clingy OR too skimpy. “Is that too much to ask for?” we hear you cry. Well no, it’s actually not, because we’ve been scouring the web and we’ve come up trumps!

We turned to one of our favourite fashion bloggers, Sincerely Jules, for some workwear inspiration too. Enjoy!

1. The shirt dress

This style of dress is ideal for the office because it’s both smart and comfy – a very rare combination! The long sleeves provide bingo wing coverage (we all want it, nothing to be ashamed of!) and the adjustable waist is great for an ‘I accidentally fell into Byron at lunch instead of Tossed’ moment. Just perhaps don’t unbutton it to the waist until it’s the weekend…

These ones from TopshopNew Look and Boohoo are all on-trend and on-budget.

2. Casual Fridays

Casual Fridays in the office call for one thing and one thing only – denim. Throw off that blazer and throw on a comforting denim dress, trust us, it feels so good! There’s nothing more uncomfortable than too-tight denim so make sure you choose a slouchy style for ultimate office ‘work and chill’ (kind of like Netflix and chill but having to work as well…).

These from Pretty Little ThingNew Look and Daisy Street all totally scream casual, but cool, Fridays.

3. The easing into summer dress

Sweltering offices call for lighter workwear. If your air-con is feeling non-existent, then a  dress like Jules’ is so called for. And when did we need an occasion to shop? For the office stick to either long sleeves and short, or midi without sleeves, never both – otherwise you’ll look like you’re hitting the beach/nightclub!

We’re obsessed with these pretty, floaty dresses from Millie Mackintosh‘s range, ASOS and Missguided. All purse-friendly and timeless.
