We researched what men should do with their appearances for an interview. And there’s literally nothing decent on the internet about it. I honestly read on one particular website about interview dressing and grooming the warning: “Don’t confuse club attire with business attire“. Well DUH! This grooming guide is pretty needed then!
Workwear is a whole other ball game. Don’t worry though, you can get some inspo from The Menswear Edit. Now on to grooming…
Kind of an obvious one, but thought we’d include it anyway! This 4-in-1 shower gel, face wash, hair wash AND shave gel is basically the best product ever. Molton Brown, we salute you! It also smells awesome too.
Having a beard is acceptable in some industries (media definitely being one of them, and we would know) but for some the clean shaven look is what you need. If in doubt shave. If you think you look like a man baby with a cleanly shaven face, opt for the BaByliss For Men 7898U Super Stubble which will give you neat looking stubble that’s not too caveman chic.
3. Smell nice
Scents are memorable and subconsciously recognised (yep, we asked an expert all about this in Should you wear a fragrance in the office?). Right now at List for Life HQ we’re loving Mr Burberry and the 30ml option is perfect for popping in your jacket pocket when you’re heading out to an interview!
4. Dry skin is gross
Moisturising doesn’t have to involve thick, floral scented creams. No, the new technological advances have created moisturisers that are water-based and very light. This one from Lab Series is in a gel formula that sinks into the skin straight away. No frills, no fuss, just healthy looking skin!
5. Over-worked hair is a no
Fresh, clean hair is the way forward for an interview. No thick gel, no thick wax – just no to over-styling your hair altogether! Instead try this Thickening Tonic from Aveda. Spray it on wet hair and then use a hair dryer to create healthy-looking volume and natural hold. Easy.
And there you have it, you’ll look slick and super cool for your job interview. Go get ’em!
