Even if you’d rather run into your ex after an HIIT workout then sit through an entire 90 minute game of football, you may have heard the sexist showdown going on in the Premier League right now.
In case you missed it, Chelsea FC’s team doctor Eva Carneiro was publicly criticised by manager Jose Mourinho after she rushed onto the pitch during Sunday’s game against Manchester City to tend to an injured player.
But, what’s wrong with that? Mourinho was allegedly outraged that his team was momentarily reduced to nine men, and branded Carneiro “too impulsive” before stripping her of first team duties.
Cyberspace has been ablaze ever since with concerns that Carneiro’s treatment is due to her gender. She has received high-profile support from ex-England international and crisp-lover Gary Lineker.
Former club doctor Ralph Rogers has made matters worse by labelling her a “cheerleader” and “celebrity doctor”.
Despite being ungraciously relegated from her dream job to the backbench, Carneiro took to Facebook to thank supporters. Maybe she is a celebrity doctor after all.
