David Bowie had a pretty awesome career *duh*. He dazzled in the music industry (obviously) but also made defining career moments in film, fashion and with his incredible charity work.
Here are four tips we’ve taken from David on how YOU can have a super long and successful work-life too.
1. Don’t be restricted in your role
Be a triple (or quadruple) threat. David moved from music to fashion, to film and humanitarian work. So there’s no reason why YOU can’t do it all. From actor-slash-musician Raleigh Ritchie to footballer-turned-singer Natasha North, we’ve got all the secrets for success, whatever jobs or roles you wish to juggle.
2. Age is no limit
Being young should never hold you back. You can do whatever you want and David definitely proved that! This site shows you all the things Bowie was doing when he was your age. But you can also use this as your motivation – he was only 17 (!) when he released his debut, ‘Liza Jane/Louie Louie Go Home’, under the name of ‘Davie Jones with The King-Bees’.
3. Reinvent yourself
Yes, this is a massive cliché but so what. If a career isn’t working for you, move on. Evolve, adapt, change. Obvs don’t start rocking these kind of looks in the office, but don’t be afraid of change. Thinking of quitting your job? Read this.
4. Do what you love
If David taught us anything, it’s to do what you love. Instead of being bored you’ll be more motivated and more likely to work harder. We know that generations to come will be inspired by the superstar.
