Love it or hate it, Subway sandwiches are pretty much everywhere in the UK. Once an uniquely American franchise, the make-your-own-sub stores cropped up on these shores back in 1996 but have been increasingly in volume exponentially. It’s now considered the ‘healthier’ alternative to fast food… for some reason.

The reality of the situation is that it’s a much more attractive prospect for a quick lunch than most burger based food spots but there’s something quite sketchy going on behind the scenes.


Who has ever done this? No one, ever.

The reason suspicion falls upon Subway is not just the hepatitis controversies, but in a recent Reddit thread a Subway worker revealed some secrets of the chain to the community and then quickly deleted his account and answers. How suspicious is that?

We can only hope that the Subway overlords are merciful to treason. In the meantime, we learned some interesting stuff about nobody’s favourite sandwich shop.


How does this not look like theft?

Cracking the case of draconian corporation, Subway, this is what the ‘sandwich artist’ revealed that you should choose steak over chicken.

When asked what menu items should be avoided and what meats are actually safe to eat, the worker said: “Avoid Chipotle Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken. Chicken is given a two-day shelf life, once in the counter. However, these two ingredients bypass this and get four days! Steak is probably the freshest, and safest”.

Now if you’re the kind of person that goes to Subway for the reasonably cheap lunches, the worker also revealed how to get the most sandwich for your money.

Meatball Marinana, Spicy Italian and BMT are all “£3 or £5 for a footlong with a drink”. Also, revealing the biggest trade secret of all, “between 7-9pm there is a 20% discount on all sandwiches”.

The final little tip for the hungry is this: “If you want a footlong, try flatbread. The way flatbread is made and prepared means we give you 14 inches”. The more you know!
