Work, uni, college, job hunting – whatever you have going on in your life, are you bored of it?
A new study says that you are. It has revealed that our generation (those born between 1983 and 2000) are the most bored demographic in the UK. Does this sound about right?
The poll, which questioned 1,000 UK adults, found that only 4% (!) of Millennials said that they never get bored which is three times less than our parents generation the Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964). It seems that they’re just more content with doing not much.
One in four Millennials are tired of TV, one in four get bored when trying to fall asleep and one in six are so over social media. Despite our generation being the one where we’re most likely to be on our phones and laptops.
Need some inspiration to get around boredom? Well the survey showed that nearly half (46%) of Millennials check social media when they’re bored to entertain themselves, despite finding it boring! Four out of ten people (43%) play games on their phones to waste away time. Angry Birds anyone? And one in five of us go shopping as a way to beat boredom.
Unsurprisingly Millennials are half as likely (26%) to pick up a book or magazine when bored as Baby Boomers are (51%). They’re all heading online to sites like List for Life instead…Holla!
Greg Tatton-Brown, one of the researchers, told List for Life: “Despite growing up with the world at their fingertips, our study shows that Millennials in the UK are attached to their mobiles, yet still profoundly bored with life.
“You could be forgiven for thinking that the unstoppable march of technology would make life exciting, but it seems that Millennials could still learn a thing or two from the Baby Boomers.”
Does this infuriate you or sound accurate?
