Friday Feeling: The hottest food in London right now and where to get it

Thank goodness it’s Friday! When the clock strikes 4:30 (let’s be honest here) the euphoric TGIF moment becomes reality. What this moment represents is the maximum amount of free time you’ll have until you have to start thinking about work again. Spread over the course of a couple of hours, this moment evolves into what we call the ‘Friday Feeling’ – best celebrated with some bagels!

We know you guys are heading out tonight and that’s why we’ve got to be your super-cool surrogate parent and make sure you’re eating right. Not because you’re drinking but because you deserve the best food in London and right now, the best food is bagels.

Salty, packed full of filling bagels. I consider them London’s most underrated drinking food. We’ve covered the best kebab spots but tonight it’s all about those premium rings.

1. Beigel Bake – Brick Lane

I can’t keep this charade up any longer. I know there are plenty of great bagels in London but only one truly heavenly bagel spot, and that is Beigel Bake. Its glorious white sign is the North Star for hungry millennials. Suffice to say, this salt beef and mustard bagel will change your life.

2. Happening Bagel Bakery – Finsbury Park

Mastering the art of the two-sided seeding, The Happening has been dishing out bagels since 1994. Another cool thing about Happening is that the staff cook batches of bagels throughout the day meaning that you’re always bound to get a fresh bagel.

3. Grodinzki – Edgeware

Managed by the great-great-granddaughter of the founders, this legendary branch of bagel spots does the best smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel in North London, probably.

4. Panzers – St John’s Wood

Another fantastic deli spot for really simple lunchtime bagels. However, who’s said a cheese on poppy bagel doesn’t go with six or seven beers?

5. Carmelli – Golders Green

Popular with the North London Jewish contingent, this spot is open late most nights. Go for either the salmon or tuna!
