When you were (or if you are) at university, the only thing harder than getting up for 9am lectures is maintaining a regular sleeping pattern. Every day is as unpredictable as the last when you’re at uni so there is an unlimited amount of reasons that 4am bedtimes would be on the cards. By the sounds of it, we could have all used some sleeping tips.
The worse thing about trying to get enough sleep is that one raucous night can spiral into six restless nights trying to figure out why you can’t sleep. Our resting patterns are such fickle and delicate things. Luckily, this infographic from Sleepy People breaks down how to get through university with some need-to-know sleeping tips.

This graphic not only gives ten solid pieces of advice but justifies them! This is a big deal because, as many of you will know, trying to get students to do anything that remotely benefits their health is neigh on impossible.

1. Resist the temptation of an all-nighter
It should be said that the all-nighter has been romanticised. If you’re in a position where you have to stay up all night to finish work, congratulations, you are either the slowest worker in the world or terribly organised. All-nighters do more damage than good, that’s just a fact.
2. Perfect the art of napping
According to the National Sleep Foundation, a short nap of 20-30 minutes can help improve alertness, memory, mood and overall academic performance. Sounds wonderful!
3. Limit alcohol intake
It sounds absolutely nuts telling a student to go steady with the booze but even a few bevs can send your body straight into deep sleep missing the important restorative sleep, REM.
