Here’s why you CAN have your cake and eat it

You might being feeling chuffed for not eating that extra biscuit (or five), but according to a new study, your self-restraint might actually be doing you more harm than good. 

The research by Duke University, which tested the relationship between participants self discipline and memory, showed that restraining ourselves can sap our ability to remember key information.

In the test, volunteers had to press a button if they saw a male face, but withold a response if a female face appeared. Later, they were asked to do a memory test. Scores for the faces that required restraint were much lower than those that did not.

So girls, next time you’re feeling peckish, totally have that cake and eat it. And then eat another one, if you so wish.
