What better way to unwind on the couch than taking in a great movie? And even better, a free movie!
Well you guys are in luck. Huge film distribution company Paramount (yeah, Paramount!) has launched a YouTube channel where it’s posting hundreds of its movies free-to-stream.
When you think about the crazy amount of footage it has in its canon, that’s a lot to choose from!
You don’t need to waste time wading through all the different titles though, because we’ve already done it for you.
Here are the ten best films available. Sit back, relax and enjoy. Oh, and thank us later.
You’ve all seen the original blood-spurting classic right? Well what did Leatherface get up to after the curtains closed and the story ended? And what if the story didn’t end?
If you never saw this on TV at Christmas then we don’t know where you’ve been all your life, but it’s a bonafide scare-filled classic. Think of that time your dad went apoplectic when he sat on the cat and it scratched his face off. Yeah, it’s like that.
Like the mushy romanticism of tennis romcom Wimbledon? Well this is nothing like that, but it does have Paul Bettany in! Willem Dafoe stars too, and he’s sort of like Kirsten Dunst, maybe we could put him in a white tennis skirt?
Woah, hang on a minute. Multiple-Academy Award winning actors Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep in the same movie? Yes, please!
Yeah, you’re going to want to check the Oscar nominated US drama Ironweed. Like now.
5. The Stooge
Fifties comedy duo Martin and Lewis were in top form in this entertaining story about, well, a comedy duo, duh.
There’s laughs-a-plenty and even a touching tale or two about true friendship.
Another 1950s hit is this classic movie set in a Hong Kong brothel starring Oscar-winner William Holden and Nancy Kwan. Perfect for a quiet night in when you’re feeling nostalgiac for a bit of 60s class.
One of the most famous novel adaptations of all time is free to watch on YouTube! Who knows what Paramount was thinking when they made that decision, but we’re glad they did. Thank you, very much.
The film buff’s dream double act of Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland came to fruition in this 1990 release about a former radical on the run for 20 years for a crime he didn’t commit.
Hippie idealist Dennis Hopper is on top form, and Sutherland isn’t exactly terrible either. Must watch.
9. Serving Sara
Now who wouldn’t want to watch a cheesy romcom starring everyone’s favourite Friends actor Chandler Bi… sorry, Matthew Perry? No one, that’s who. And when you throw in Elizabeth Hurley on top? Well, you’ve got yourself a surefire winner of a movie.
Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jack Black isn’t a bad cast to be starting off with. And when you count Margot at the Wedding among the noughties finest tragicomedies, then we’re all set for a grand old night of cinematic gold.
