The home of Robin Hood, it’s no wonder that UK residents nationwide flock to Nottingham for adventure. In terms of things to do, Nottingham has the most diverse roster of actives. Whether you’re into art, clubbing, exploration, architecture or live music – Nottingham has a bit of everything for you.
And if you’re thinking: “I spent all my money last weekend in Liverpool“, don’t worry. These great adventures aren’t just buckets of fun, they’re affordable as heck. Get on a train or step outside your door to soak in everything Nottingham has to offer.
1. City of Caves
Talking about ‘the underground’ in Nottingham can mean one of two things. Either the infamous club and dance scene or the more popularised underground network, City of Caves. Beneath the shops, streets and salons of the city runs a labyrinthian mess of 500 artificial caves, all with a deep history.
2. Rock City
The birth place of UK punk royalty, The Undertones, Rock City is one of the last standing hubs of indie culture. As well as a frequently visited music venue, Rock City also puts on a hell of club night. Be sure to stop by on Saturday nights for the legendary alternative night, Hey Hey Hey.
3. Dusk till Dawn
The thing with casinos is that they’re as affordable as you want them to be. Whether you’re putting down £5 or £50, Dusk till Dawn is the pinch of the Vegas experience without the atmosphere of desperation. Just be careful with your wagers!
4. Broadway Indie Cinema
Any other weekend, I’m always going to encourage a visit to your local independent cinema. However, this weekend the Broadway Cinema is playing the David Bowie starring classic, Labyrinth. Pay your respects to the White Duke while visiting one of the best cinema institutions across the UK.
5. Castle Rock Brewery
“Weekend tours are dependent on the football fixtures” reads Castle Rock Brewery’s disclaimer on their site. Castle Rock are responsible for some of the most delicious ales in the UK so book your tour as soon as you can!
