Post-work all we want to do is switch off. But sometimes switching off can’t involving switching on the TV. Then again, we don’t always want to read a book after spending all day reading emails. So where do we turn?
That is why we have podcasts. So we can sit and listen to someone else for even just a short while. Here’s a few of our favourite in case you’re in the market for some new listening material.
My favourite, coming from the fashion (and so much more) blog ManRepeller, features the hilarious Leandra Medine, founder of MR, and Amelia Diamond, Deputy Editor. They have special guests each week and discuss pretty much everything. It will have you laughing and will often provoke discussion.
The series that has had pretty much everyone gripped – and had those who aren’t feeling seriously left out. Serial explores, in the first series, the 1999 murder of a high school student in America. It will have you on the edge of your seat and cancelling plans so you can binge-listen. Series 2 is hitting us soon and will cover another crime.
Chat between two long-distance friends Aminatou Sow and Anna Friedman. They discuss the week’s news, particularly focusing on issues relating to women. Perfect if you want to engage but haven’t had the time to stop and read the articles that you should know about. Their banter is great and the genuine friendship evident, plus it’ll get you in the know about key women’s issues.
If you want a walking, talking Wikipedia, then feast your ears on this. Basically it explains all the general knowledge facts that you either haven’t looked up or haven’t even thought of. Interesting and funny, and perfect prep for the pub quiz.
