The GIRLS star is more than just a body
When Lena Dunham attended the launch of personal trainer Tracy Anderson’s studio, her weight was immediately subject to scrutiny. Much to the anger of the GIRLS star.
Taking to Instagram to vent her fury Lena praised Refinery29.com for writing an article telling people to stop talking about her weight. The 30-year-old followed this with an EPIC speech telling people she doesn’t “give even the tiniest of s**** what anyone else feels” about her body. Lena also stated her weight loss as absolutely nothing to do with society pressure and mean trolls but everything to do with her health. Dunham has been battling endometriosis and has found exercise hugely helpful…
Lena Dunham used Instagram to share her empowering message
“Right now I’m struggling to control my endometriosis through a healthy diet and exercise. So my weight loss isn’t a triumph and it also isn’t some sign I’ve finally given in to the voices of trolls.”
Lena, who is one of the most influential and important feminist voices of our generation, proudly flagged her own body up as an example of everything she stands for and has previously battled.
“I’ve accepted that my body is an ever changing organism, not a fixed entity- what goes up must come down and vice versa. I smile just as wide no matter my current size because I’m proud of what this body has seen and done and represented. Chronic illness sufferer. Body-shaming vigilante. Sexual assault survivor. Raging hottie. Just like all of YOU.. Because my body belongs to ME–at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I’m doing with it, I’m not handing in my feminist card to anyone.”
What a way to shut down the critics. GO LENA!
