So, You’ve Been Using The Sassy Girl Emoji ALL Wrong

The sassy girl in the pink jumper is one of our most used emojis. Bagged yourself a big promotion? Sassy emoji. Just crafted the perfect reply to the guy you’re dating? Sassy emoji. Got an awesome new Zara sale purchase? Sassy emoji.

No Sasha Fierce moment can be communicated without it.

If, like us, you’re a big fan of this emoji then I’m afraid we’ve got some rather controversial news. A woman from Toronto has just proposed an alternative meaning to this much-loved emoticon.

Jessi Stern, an event planner fropm Toronto, reckons it does not represent sassiness in a hair flicking way but is in fact a post-haircut emoji. Yep, she thinks you should be using this emoji when you want to tell your mates “I just got my hair did”.

Jessi took to Twitter to share her breaking discovery:

“ALERT: Everyone I am a genius. It is 1:13 in the morning and I have to go to work tomorrow but I found out the meaning behind [sassy pink emoji girl]. It is part 2 of [haircut pink emoji girl]. Look, in the hair cutting one she has long hair that gets cut at her shoulders and then she’s showing it off!!!! There is meaning to everything in life. Thank you for your time. Carry on.”

> Before and after a trip to the hairdressers…

Now we look at the two emojis side by side this actually makes total sense. Mind blown.

To add even more confusion, the people at Unicode who make the emoticons actually define it as the ‘Information Desk Person’. Bizarre.

Having said this, the best thing about emojis is you can use them however you want. So, if you still want to show your sassiness with this emoticon don’t hold back. We’re sure Beyonce wouldn’t.
