Listen up, people. There’s a hot new festival in town from the people behind Lovebox and The Secret Garden Party and it just took festival-going to a whole new level of luxe.
The first ever Wilderness 2011 hit the stunning grounds of Oxfordshire’s Cornbury Park at the weekend, and it really was a festival to remember. From the party deep in the lantern-lit woods (aptly titled by organisers from The Secret Garden Party ‘Where The Wild Things Are’) on Friday night, and the midnight masked ball where festival-goers danced, some in lavish costume; all masked, under the full moon of Saturday night, to the Michelin star chef-hosted baquets held nightly in a candle-lit tent: this was festival-going at it’s luxurious best.
The lovely Laura Marling hit the stage on the final day of the festival and, after shrugging off a marriage proposal from someone in the crowd with a shy shrug and a smile, performed a solo set to a captivated crowd. And did we mention the Wilderness spa with the wood-fired hot tubs surrounding the lantern-lit swimming lake (yes we did and yes, it was cold btw)? Oh, and the yurt sauna? Imagine coming away from a festival feeling relaxed, beautified and… clean. Yes, ladies, this really is the way to do festivals in style. The question is: can we ever go back?
