What did we love most about Chloe’s AW15 catwalk? Where do we start? Firstly, designer Clare Waight Keller dedicated the entire show to International Women’s Day, reminding us all to feel empowered and celebrated as we watched a glorious procession of ’70s-inspired plunging maxi dresses, velvet waistcoats, fringed capes and skinny scarves. It was an unapologetic celebration in itself; of femininity, bohemia and all things romantic.
Poppy Delevingne, Olivia Palermo and Kelly Rowland were all FROW-side to witness this dreamy offering float down the catwalk, and we bet their wish lists are as long as ours. The high street rails may be buckling under the weight of all things ’70s at the moment, but it looks as if the decade is here to stay; in our wardrobes, at least. And, as our favourite shopping haunts are stocked with retro-inspired finds, it makes it even easier for us all to channel Chloe right now. From a smattering of denim to long-line coats, here are our top picks from this beautifully vintage collection…
The Maxi Dress:
There were maxis aplenty on the runway. Printed chiffons, blush pink hues and deep V-necks all made us swoon, and we’ll be wearing ours with fringed jackets, ankle boots and- come summer- gladiator flats.
The Denim Jacket:
This jean jacket was made winter-ready by a furry collar, but they’re also the perfect cover up for spring climes. Make like the Chloe girl and team with your flares for a fashion-forward approach.
The Skinny Scarf:
Not since Prada’s AW14 show have we been so excited about these slinky scarves. Wrap around your neck and rock with tailored separates for a contemporary twist, or add to a blouse and A-line mini to be a boho babe head-to-toe.
Whether you layer it over your flowing frocks or make it the perfect partner for your pussybow blouse, the waistcoat is huge news for your wardrobe. Try Topshop’s longer line version for a flattering take on the trend.
The Maxi Coat:
Overcoats trailed the floor as the models walked, making for one glamours helping of outerwear. Try Free People’s jersey version for a cover-up that’s light enough for this season. Plus, it will last you long into AW15. That’s the perfect investment, then.
