Why Cara, Kendall And Gigi Are Social Media Supermodels

We all know how succesful Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner are but do you know exactly how they got to be the most famous models in the world? Well, Gigi is putting it all down to her Instagram fame. 

Showing no signs of slowing down, the model covers Adweek’s millenial issue, talking business as well as beauty and explaining what social media has done for her career.

In the mag’s exclusive interview with the 19-year-old, she chats about how Instagram has helped her go from a relatively unknown model to a “global fashion celebrity” seemingly overnight and has aided her in getting contracts with the likes of Victoria’s Secret Pink and Maybelline.


And she is not alone. Fellow models Cara Delevingne (arguably the very first Vogue dubbed “Instagirl”), Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner are also part of the social media supermodel revolution.

With Cara’s following at over 10 million and Kendall at a staggering 22 million followers, it’s not hard to see why brands are attracted to using such major presences.

However, Teen Vogue’s Amy Astley was quoted in the magazine about how a huge Instagram following wouldn’t be enough to gain this level of success. It’s their modelling credentials and great attitude that has helped to make them so succesful. She explained:

“Both Kendall and Gigi are very professional, really hardworking and grateful for where they are. They don’t ask for any special favours. They’re physically great specimens. And the fact that they’re known to the public and have a big social following is extra, and it’s great.”

Last night, the girls attended the Chanel show in New York, where Gigi posted this cute snap of the three of them having a snuggle, captioning it, “If this isn’t love then I don’t know what is…” Aww, it’s not hard to see why they all have such a huge following and we’re pretty sure even more success is in sight for these ladies.
