Kendall Jenner has revealed that she knew about her dad’s desire to transition since she was ‘a kid.’
The 19-year-old model hasn’t really talked about Caitlyn’s life change since it happened, but now, Kendall’s come clean on how she’s handled the process.
‘I’ve known since I was a kid’, she told Women’s Wear Daily. ‘He never confirmed it to me, but I’ve known for a very long time.’
But while Bruce’s decision to transition may not have come as a shock, Kendall still admits that it’s taken some getting used to.
‘It’s the same person’, she said. ‘My dad says it herself sometimes, it’s kind of like mourning the loss of someone, because it is. My dad is my dad, but he’s not there physically anymore.
‘But she lets me call her dad – that’s the last little piece of dad I’ve got.’
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also confesses that her entire family being in the spotlight doesn’t make it any easier, either. ‘It would probably be different for someone who didn’t have to live it through the media,’ she explained.
‘But it’s been a ride, for sure. It’s an adjustment. It’s something you have to get used to.’
Caitlyn recently revealed what it was first like to show her other daughter, Kylie Jenner, her true female self.
In an I Am Cait clip, 17-year-old Kylie is seen calling her dad after a trip to the dentist, to which Caitlyn, who was dressed as a woman, answers and says: ‘I don’t want to scare you.’
When Kylie sees her, People reports, she says: ‘You’re not scaring me. You look pretty!’
The former Olympian then goes on to admit how scared she was about first revealing Caitlyn’s new look to her kids.
‘Even Kylie coming over today…You never know, when they get away from here and they go home they go, “Oh my god, that it is strange.”‘ She added that it took many of the Kardashian-Jenners a while to face up to meeting Caitlyn.
‘Khloe hasn’t been here. Kourtney hasn’t been here and hasn’t met Caitlyn… Rob… Maybe them not being around is, you know, kind of their way of saying, “I don’t really agree with this or what.”‘
But one person who was supportive was Kanye West, who surprised everyone by appearing in the latest episode of I Am Cait.
He’s rarely seen in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, with wife Kim admitting he’s not keen on the show, so his support to Caitlyn in her own reality series is pretty cute.
Kanye is seen arriving at Caitlyn’s Malibu home with pregnant Kim. Upon metting Caitlyn for the first time, he makes the family laugh by greeting her with: ‘What up?’
‘It’s one of the strongest things that has happened’, he goes on to say to her. ‘You couldn’t have been up against more, your daughters, you’re a celebrity and it was still like f*** everybody, this is who I am.’
Caitlyn Jenner gave one seriously incredible and heartfelt speech as she accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday, and looked sensational in a white Versace wrap dress.
And now, she’s opened up about why the whole ordeal was terrifying.
In a new blog post, she admitted: ‘As a dyslexic kid, my biggest fear in life was to go in front of the class and read because I just wasn’t very good at it — and that stays with you through your whole life.’
And seeing her children, Kylie, Kendall and Brody Jenner, along with Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, sitting in the audience watching her, was the hardest bit.
‘The toughest part in the speech was my kids’, Caitlyn continued. ‘It was hard to look over there and see all of my children. As I said in the speech, I don’t want to hurt anybody. I just want to be myself. I barely got through that.’
But at the after-party, it was all relief and smiles as the former Olympian could finally celebrate the huge milestone in her life. ‘I was able to get off the stage without tripping and I went upstairs and had a party.’
‘All of my family and friends — oh, it was such a relief because it was over. I could relax at the party. It was just a wonderful moment.’
Caitlyn’s inspiring speech pushed the ESPYs ratings to its greatest heights, surging by 253% overnight. We can see why.
We were left with tears in our eyes after watching Caitlyn highlight the awful struggles that much of the transgender community go through.
‘This transition has been harder on me than anything I could imagine’, Caitlyn said. ‘Trans people deserve something vital. They deserve your respect. From that respect comes a more compassionate community.’
The former Olympic athlete admitted that ‘the last few months have been a whirlwind’, before highlighting the dangers many young trans people face.
‘They’re getting bullied, they’re getting beaten up, they’re getting murdered, they’re committing suicide,’ said Jenner.
Fighting back the tears, she said: ‘The biggest fear I’ve always had in coming out was that I never wanted to hurt anyone else. Most of all my family and my kids.’
‘I always wanted my children to be so proud of their dad and for that he was able to accomplish in his life. You guys have given so much back to me. You give me so much support. I am so, so grateful to have all of you in my life. Thank you.’
And last but not least, Caitlyn turned to address her mum, Esther. Cue even more tears.
‘My mom, who just over a week ago had to have surgery and didn’t think she was going to make it. But she’s here with me tonight to share this night.’
‘I always thought that I got my courage and my determination from my dad. But you know what I’m realising now mom? I think I got all of those qualities from you. I love you so much.’
And on the back of her incredible speech, and in what might be the coolest news of the day, iPhone app Siri will now corect you if you try and call Caitlyn Jenner ‘Bruce.’
