Who Will #BreakTheInternet This Year?

From Kim’s Paper magazine shoot to Benedict Cumberbatch’s six ice bucket challenges, 2014 was the year we all went viral.

On November 11th, the world woke up to the images of Kim Kardashian’s outrageously proportioned bum (covered in what looked like loads of cooking oil). With a brief to ‘break the internet’, it’s fair to say photographer Jean-Pole Goude did his job. Cue loads of parodies – Ursula was our personal fave.

Emma Watson led the way for the new wave of feminism with her UN #HeForShe speech. Telling men: “Gender equality is your issue too”, Emma got loads of male celebs on board. After all, who could say no to Hermione?

The fact it raised £62 million for Motor Neurone Disease was impressive enough – but that’s not why we were all talking about the ice bucket challenge last summer. Nope, it was because we got to see Benedict Cumberbatch get wet SIX times. Oh, and who could forget Victoria Beckham and her ice bucket family moment.

After their ‘interpretation’ of Kanye’s racy Bound 2 video last year, James Franco and Seth Rogan then recreated Mr and Mrs West’s April Vogue cover. Striking a pose and mimicking Kimye’s expressions, Seth proudly tweeted: “It had to be done”, while the rest of the world wondered where he’d learned his impressive Photoshop skills.

Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscars snap with not one, not two, but 12 superstar actors racked up 3.3 million retweets and 2 million favourites. Incindentally, we’re sure our selfies would do just as well if they had Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum in them. Just saying.

We wonder what 2015 has in store…
