What To Wear If You’re Running The Marathon

Calling all marathon runners. The event is fast approaching, and while we’re sure it’ll seem like you’ve dedicated your whole life to the sodding thing, there’s one part that’s probably not got much attention: what to wear. That’s where we come in. We’ve done our research and rounded up the very best sportswear to keep you comfortable AND stylish right through to mile 26. Notepads at the ready…

Nike Flex Run Trainers, £70

By far the most important part of your get-up, what’s on your feet can determine just how well you do. They need to be relatively lightweight, supportive (we’d recommend getting your gait measured), and should have enough room for a good pair of socks. These Nike beauties are breathable but with ample cushioning.

Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity Leggings, £90

The key to good running clothing is fabric. You need something cool that won’t irritate your skin. At £90, these Sweaty Betty leggings are pretty pricey, but with muscle-compressing performance features and “zero gravity” fabric, they’re defo worth it.

Sports Bra

Nike Sports Bra, £40

When it comes to sports bras, support is key. This Nike number will score you serious style points and will keep you in tact throughout.

Adidas Running T-Shirt, £23

Sweating is inevitable, but who knew there was actually a fabric that could help?! This Adidas tee is made of a clever material that’ll absorb all the moisture. Uh-mazing.

So there you have it. When it comes to channeling the weather, we’d recommend investing in a cap and a lightweight rainproof jacket, too. And you’ll probably want to try running in your new gear before the big day – make it a semilong one so you can rule out any unexpected chafing. Good luck!
