At Coachella back in April, Alexander Wang announced (via insta vid) that he would be the next designer to collaborate with high street giant H&M. Cue global excitement…
On Instagram, (where it all started with that video) #ALEXANDERWANGxHM streamed a full and continuous feed of updates from the fashion world; spilling sneak peeks of anything new, it was slowly revealed that the range would include both womens and menswear as well as some typically Wang-style accessories, and when Riri was spotted rocking what was really the first real glimpse of the collection, nobody could deny this had to be the most highly anticipated collab yet.
Fast forward 6 months, take one giant stadium in New York, a fashion editor from pretty much every big magazine in every country add the crème de la crème of celebs and you’ve got your self one hell of an audience for one hyped up party…Opening the show with acrobatics and trained parkour artists (those are the gentlemen scaling the walls with ease), plus a video made especially for the collection featuring fave model Joan Smalls, had the crowd won over from the get go.
Dakota Fanning, Solange Knowles, Mary J Blige and Jessica Chastain all graced the frow, wearing their pick of the high street/designer fusion. Hip-hop legend Missy Elliot took the stage for a special performance after the catwalk show was over.
The pop-up shop was in full flow that evening, with all fashion eds and celebs browsing the rails. Champagne and cocktails were also in full flow; with specially designed drinks for the night including the Knock Out and the Shiner – both boxing references that was themed throughout the show and collection.
Now the rest of the world is left waiting for the official drop of the collection in H&M stores and online November 06. And with prices starting at just £12.99, we predict a sell out!
Catch the collection fast, or you’ll miss it.
