Model agency powerhouse IMG Models have launched a global social media campaign in order to scout out new talent.
The agency, which looks after the likes of Candice Swanepoel, Gisele Bundchen and Gigi Hadid have taken to Instagram to find their next top model. Using the hashtag ‘We Love Your Genes’ (or #WLYG), hopeful models can be seen by top scouters at IMG and have a shot at making it.
Although not dissimilar to sending in photos to an agency, this opportunity offers aspiring models with the chance to really sell themselves with snaps of them in different situations and with different expressions to really show off their whole personality.
Jeni Rose, the Vice President of scouting for IMG, explained to Fashionista, “Instagram allows us to see potential models’ natural beauty in their everyday lives. They no longer have to spend lots of money on photo shoots or portfolios. Instead, they can come directly to us with simple smartphone snapshots and a lot of enthusiasm.”
The fashion world is no stranger to scouting for talent via the realm of social media. Marc By Marc Jacobs have scoured the site for their recent campaigns, while Guess also found a spring model on Instagram.
The agency has reportedly received almost 14,000 applications via their campaign from girls all over the world. So if you think you have a shot at being the next Gisele, then get on Instagram with your best pout and use the hashtag. You never know, you might be walking down that Chanel catwalk before you know it.
