Victoria Beckham showed the fashion pack what she’s made of yet again as she presented her AW13 collection during New York Fashion Week yesterday. Show-goers were welcomed into the New York Public Library by a parade of handsome men bearing English Breakfast tea as they waited to take their seats.
With husband David in prime FROW position next to Anna Wintour, the show began. Known for her sexy, curve clinging dresses, Victoria threw us quite the fashion curveball with this collection, embracing menswear with tailored tweed jackets and masculine overcoats. (Fear not, the hot frocks were still present – this lady knows what she’s good at). Clean lines reigned supreme, championing a minimal aesthetic that oozed luxury, while muted greys and blacks were pepped up with hits of cobalt blue and sunshine yellow. The catwalk also showcased Victoria’s first crack at knitwear, with chic, colour-blocked turtlenecks taking to the catwalk, and, according to Mrs Beckham, below-the-knee hemlines sre where it’s at next season.
The designers’ signature structured bags, carried clutched by the hand in the style of Victoria herself, and Manolo Blahnik-designed kitten heel booties completed the super polished collection. No doubt pre-orders went through the roof yesterday! GG
