If there’s one show guaranteed to draw an A-list crowd during London Fashion Week it’s Topshop Unique, but even Sir Philip Green may have outdone himself with the brand’s latest show. Not only was the FROW packed with the regular Topshop crowd- Alexa Chung, Suki Waterhouse and Poppy Delevingne, to name but a few- but a few new faces were also in attendance.
Most notably, Cressida Bonas sat on the front row next to Alexa, cementing her status as one of fashion’s new ‘It’ girls. Dressed in a black lace shirt dress and classic court shoes, Cressida posed alongside Sir Philip and Alexa for photographers before taking her seat. Speaking of Alexa, we can only hope that the jumpsuit she was wearing will be in Topshop stores sooner rather than later because it. was. dreamy. It is in fact taken from the SS16 collection, and we’re counting down the days until we can get our hands on this beauty (we may have a bit of a wait). This is going to be like the scrum for that AW15 dress all over again.
Jourdan Dunn, Bella Thorne (and boyfriend), Tanya Burr, Ciara (yes, really), Anais Gallagher and Chloe Green (natch) were also on the FROW, making for one star-studded line-up. And it didn’t stop there, either. Leading the model posse was Bella Hadid, who led the likes of Malaika Firth and Binx Walton onto the catwalk.
As for the collection itself, it was packed with the usual amount of covetable clothes for SS16. Yep, as usual we want absolutely everything from the sheer, floral dresses to the oversized tuxedo jackets to the cropped jeans. Satin blouses, fur-trimmed heels, furry clutches, silk pyjama jackets, leather pencil skirts and embroidered bomber jackets all made for one high-end looking wardrobe. And trust us when we say that the humble cardigan was elevated to new heights (flower-shaped buttons, anyone?)
Oversized polka dots, thigh-skimming slits on skirts and sporty sleeveless knits were among the highlights, not to mention the new way to wear your coat- belted at the waist and worn off-the-shoulder.
It’s safe to say we can’t wait to get our hands on this collection when it lands in stores, but if you can’t quite wait that long, head to Topshop now to snap up the AW15 collection. The dandelion prints were a particular hit with the show-goers; Erin O’Connor and Poppy D were both wearing pieces featuring the flower.
All in all, Topshop delivered yet another hit collection, and one that’s sure to sell like hot cakes. With distinct nods to both the 80s and the 90s, the high street hot spot managed to create a mix of tailoring and laid-back separates that speak to the most modern of muses.
