One thing’s for sure, Tommy Hilfiger knows how to put on a good show. From last season’s American football pitch to the Sixties rock ‘n’ roll bandstand six months before, we’ve come to expect something memorable from every show. There was no disappointment this season as Tommy decided to take us all on a trip to a tropical island complete with a boardwalk over water and even a beach-bar shack.
Inspired by island life, the tropical escape featured sun-kissed model after sun-kissed model strutting down the catwalk wearing his Caribbean-inspired collection. The designer explained that it was all, “A fun tribute to the islands where [he] holidays every year.”
Tommy, who has a house in Mustique, brought a little bit of paradise into a jam-packed New York Fashion Week schedule which we bet every fashion editor on the FROW was grateful for.
The soundtrack leading the models down the catwalk was – of course – the one and only Bob Marley and his style was ever so present in the collection. From coloured crochet to sunny-coloured bucket hats, everything was very reflective of the Carribean scene that had been set, but reconstructed in a Hilfiger way.
Gigi Hadid finished the show, leading the finale through the water in a gorgeous printed bikini. The models she lead included her sister Bella and pal, Ireland Baldwin, who were kitted out in crochet, baggy trousers and feathered jewellery.
Coloured crochet and sun dresses to die for make their way down the catwalk.
Gigi and Bella shared some sisterly love as they made their way back down the catwalk and they weren’t the only siblings making a statement at the show – Immy and Suki Waterhouse were decked out in their finest Tommy Hilfiger clobber to sit front row together. Naw!
Thanks for giving us a taste of island life Mr Hilfiger – we officially want summer back now.
