Yes, you read that correctly. Kris Jenner is to be immortalised on the small screen by none other than Selma Blair, who has been cast to play the Kardashian matriach in a new FX series, American Crime Story: The People V OJ Simspson. We’ll give you a moment to process that.
Of course, Kris Jenner was in the public eye long before Keeping Up With The Kardashians thanks to her ex-husband, Robert Kardashian and his role in the legendary OJ Simpson case as Simpson’s lawyer. He was accused of murdering his wife, Nicole Brown, who also happened to be a close friend to Kris.
Now, the dramatic time will be played out in the new 10-part series, which is the brainchild of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck, the force behind hits like Glee and American Horror Story.
Set to air next year. Legally Blonde star Selma Blair will be joined by a star-studded cast, with Friends star David Schwimmer playing Robert Kardashian and Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ. Even John Travolta is on board, returning to TV after a 36-year hiatus to play OJ’s defence lawyer, Robert Shapiro.
There’s still no word on whether Blair has been getting pointers from Jenner but Schwimmer has confirmed that the momager has steered him in the right direction in preparation for his role as Robert.
“I was lucky enough to speak to (Jenner) for a few hours who was very generous with her time,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I thought, ‘Who better to tell me who Robert was as a husband and a father than her?’ and it’s been a very exciting process so far.”
If recent reports are anything to go by, the plot will be seen from the point of view of the lawyers on both sides and will be based on the 1996 book, The Run of His Life: The People v O. J Simonson, which was written by New York-based journalist, Jeffrey Toobin.
We can’t wait…
